Decadent Dessert

As promised.. or threatened.. Aimees dessert. Be warned.. it brings decadence to a new level.

But she said that it is pretty simple to make *rolls my eyes*

But the moans at the table.. omg

First she made a dark chocolate mousse, the ingredients are pretty simple. Dark chocolate, Grand Marnier liquor, whipping cream, sugar and walnuts.

About 1/4 cup of the liquor, and a good dark chocolate, melted in a bowl over boiling water, you don’t want to heat the chocolate on the burner. And don’t get any water in it, the chocolate goes strange when water hits it, about 8 ounces of chocolate.

Whip the cream, about two cups and add 1/2 cup of powder sugar to it, when whipped, whip it more to be sure the sugar is mixed up.

You need to cool the chocolate and then fold it into the cream. Don’t add it when hot, and be sure to fold it gently, mixing it though.

Put the mousse in the fridge to cool it.

Now the fun starts.

She took muffin tins and put some plastic wrap in each one as a liner,  then melted milk chocolate. Again using the bowl over boiling water.

Then put the now melted milk chocolate into the muffin tin, swirling it about to cover all the sides, forming little cups. It cools fast so just keep turning it. Little ramekins will be easier if you think this could be a hard step.

Put that into the fridge to let it harden.

While that happens, take the walnuts and toast them in a pan, be  careful they burn easily. Keep moving them about.

Don’t over toast them.

Put your mousse in a piping bag… any plastic bag with the corner cut out will work, cut it small though… and then take the muffin tin out, the little chocolate cups will come out easily, remove the plastic wrap and you have neat little chocolate cups. They are very cute and be careful, some people will try to eat them now… *nods wisely*

Use the piping bag to swirl your mousse into the cups, so it looks like a soft ice cream cone.

sprinkle on the toasted walnuts… mmmm, looks good doesn’t it?

wait, you aren’t finished yet.

now melt white chocolate… and drizzle it on top of each one…..

Put them back in the fridge and wait… lets see how long you can wait.

oh,  it only serves one.. *nods wisely again*

psst, I told you everyone should get an Aimee…. 🙂

grumbles and edits.. shouldn’t blog late at night.. lol
