Waiting for Sandy

Normally that would be something that sounds hmmm, good? a bit of excitement building, whoever Sandy is, they are about to visit.

I guess not this time though. Things look calm, but each time the news is turned on our stomachs do flips.

I can’t imagine what it is like to know a full strength storm is going to hit you. The worry you would have, what to do…. but perhaps now I do. A bit maybe. This seems to be a full strength storm. This Sandy.

It is going to visit tonight, funny, well not really, but it will start to bother us hours before it even hits shore. It is huge!

We came home early and are all sitting waiting. Maybe napping as we may not sleep tonight. We tried to cover everything that needs covering, and put lots of heavy things on the covers. Jill refused to sit on the pile of wood, but she isn’t really that heavy, so I guess that is ok. They say it is likely we will lose power and not to go outside. hmmmm, but it will be bad after midnight, why would we go outside? To bring Jill in? pssst, she isn’t staying out :-).

We have lots of water, and a fireplace, and lots of firewood. We can cook on that if we have to. It makes a nice light too, flickering in the room, it is very soothing. I hope the storm passes and no one is harmed, anywhere. They keep saying it will take lives, so I hope everyone is very careful. It is so scary when the wind becomes so strong. And then flooding… and in the dark. very scary.

Megan opened one of the bags of peanut butter cups. We are all testing them now.

BE SAFE EVERYONE, please!

  2. Hope everyone in the path of Sandy stays safe! Remember to stay indoors cuz the wind can make trees and branches fall – especially after lots of rain.

I am hunkered down at home like Jen said. Hmmm, maybe we should come up with a song list of good songs to play! Riding the Storm out…now who did that one? *LOL* I think was a hair band from the 1980s!

Hope so much I don’t lose power! Be safe Amber!

  3. think of it as a grand adventure! staying warm and dry by the fire while it howls outside… make up stories, take turns telling parts of them… play tackle chess (that is it right? tackle chess?)… journal about it so you can tell your grandkids or whatever…

do you have the stuff for smores? make them in the fireplace!! I love cooking on the fireplace (or woodstove) when the power goes out… sigh I miss having a woodstove šŸ˜¦ …

be safe, stay warm… fill us in tomorrow or the next day so we don’t worry šŸ™‚
