Autumn’s departure…

Autumn arrives so fast it seems.

Nature’s rainbow no longer in the sky.

Ribbons of colour abound so much.

The clouds of beauty grounded now.

The expanding carpet thickening day by day.

Becoming a wonderful place for children to play.

Mimicking the white blanket soon to be here.

For winter is becoming so near.

Each one will go for this I know.

The last leaf holding tight, fighting with all its might.

So resisting the end of season, for such a very good reason.

Fighting to the last, though its fate is cast.

Suddenly its grip is broken, nature has spoken.

To the ground it does flutter, with barely a mutter.

Autumn departs, when it crashes to the floor,

The noise so loud yet barely heard…  for fall is out the door.

Natures creatures continue to prepare,

Some with great tenacity, and a flirting dare.

Stuffing their cheeks and filling their nest

One last wave then off they go. for their long winters rest.

Some of Natures creatures hoard with more flair,

Each piece placed with so much care.

A golden glow will be cozy at night,

In the hearth it will be such a beautiful sight.

It is not all glum, what is to come.

We have things to do, too.

Friends and more, some I adore.

With them I will curl up, with chocolate in my cup.

And wait for spring to knock on our door.

the days continue to shorten

nights grow in length

summer fades

i miss it so.
