Lets Talk

talk, listen, learn, share.

help, aid, support, learn

learn, listen, talk, help

listen, talk. UNDERSTAND

are they all just words?

The dewdrop glistening in the morning bright,
dancing and shimmering such a pretty sight.
The proud little blade of grass bent to half its height,
proudly holding that droplet with all its might.

The day warming as the sun arches higher in its flight
and the drop of water shrinks until out of sight.
That little blade of grass stands taller freed of its blight,
the tiny dewdrop now gone, away… well not quite.

In a mist it goes joining the clouds with height,
swirling in the blue sky now shaded with white.
The presence of that single drop is felt so slight,
a cloud with so many, but it feels so right.

Part of a group a team even in a cloud is not trite,
it takes so many drops to form one I may cite.
Each one needed,  yes even that sprite,
and it will return to earth, maybe even in the rain tonight.

Like a circle, its life is alright,
as a droplet, or mist flying like a kite.
In the sky or on the ground yet not trite,
that endless circle it does, I did just recite.

The drops life we know from dew to rain, as it is in plain sight,
but things are hidden in many a brain, so many do fight.
in shadows with pain, confusion & concealed.. and that’s not right,
its time to remove the stigma now, to talk about your plight.

Understanding should be had, more to share in your fight!
This is my wish but we are not there, not quite
Stamp it that stigma with force, with smite,
and it is why I continue of this to write.

Mental health, mental illness, mental disorders this is the blight,
pull them from the shadows, bring them to the light.
Share and help, frown no more, lets make it everyone’s fight
talk and learn lets not hide this in fright!

  1. I love this poem Amber. I especially love your passion for wanting to help others realize that mental health issues are far from uncommon (I understand that only one in five actually receives the care they need) and there are professionals such as yourself that are there to help, but if only we can remove the negative stigma associated with mental health illness.

Sometimes it only takes a chance to talk to someone new, someone that will listen, someone that will appreciate you for who you are and not for who you are not and that can make all the difference. I know I am blessed to have a special person that I am able to talk to. Thank you for such a wonderful post. *Special Hugs*

  2. Well written darling. Your posts give so much courage to everyone, I am proud of you. 🙂 xx

  3. I agree with the others … you help much Amber. Your insistence on speaking out as well is something special. Not just one voice … but now many more. You not only help many by talking of mental health issues … but you lead others to want to help get this illness out into the light. Not one voice … but now many.

Your poem is wonderful and special. But not as wonderful or as special as you.

Oh don't be shy, speak your mind.. leave a comment. :-)
