Endless ride

the sea

It could be flat and calm, but seldom it was
the sea’s anger so apparent, as it cast it’s froth about
waves high and mighty, tossed with such reckless abandon
cresting and rolling with a vicious fever

***********

The valleys so deep with mountainous sides
like a vacuum of dark, lost from the light
watery walls that can’t be climbed
the ferociousΒ sea, uncaring at your plight

Waiting for the fated ride, your return to the summit
over and over in this repetitious journey, is sure
the rush to the rush to the curling breaker
the turbulent sea, callous, as it tosses you about

The streaming ride up the looming wall
formidable, flowing, peaks foaming in frothy splinters
up through this maelstrom, you are tossed, to the very tip of the top
the view unchanging, just more of the same, endless angry sea

Effusive mountains of water eternal in your vision
deep troughs of darkness segmenting their peaks
liberation, rescue, a vest or dingy, is it too much to ask?
some hope, a flicker or something to grasp

A life vest floats by, the inside lined with thorns
a dinghy rides on the crest, it’s floor filled with holes
a wooden boat offered with care, flames flickering on the hull
the edge of the crest looms, the journey to the gorge begins again

How to endure, why to be, this terrible expedition of torment
hades has arrived, and it is in your mind, it is just so unfair
this endless sea, the endless ride, of down and then up
glimmers of hope, yanked away, all seems lost

Please endure, with fortitude, you there,Β never conceded
this test of you, is so tough, but then so are thee
rise above it, for you can, share in my strength
together we can, do anything, if you believe

  4. Amber your talents continue to amaze the analogy between the wild waves out of control and the torment that someone feels when they are depressed, lonely or feel there is no hope. You are getting others to ride these waves with you – and that makes YOU one very special human being. xx

  6. The imagery of the vest with thorns…the boat with holes …. and the endless up and down surging…apt metaphors.

Soon for some, the wave will calm … and after they rest … we can all ride the other wave … the one you are helping to create *smiles*

  8. I like the alliteration in this line: formidable, flowing, peaks foaming in frothy splinters. The imagery is powerful, and very apt. You got skills!
