Last night we felt like having hamburgers, it was raining out, quite hard, so we decided we should cook indoors. I have found a burger that is fried is moister than grilling, so this was not bad news. We would have to tough it out with moist burgers.
But we were out of cheese curds. (insert sad face here)
We did stumble across a large wheel of brie that we had though… hmmmm
The ground beef was tossed into a bowl. Pepper was ground, garlic was minced, Panco bread crumbs were sprinkled, Worcestershire sauce was drizzled. We have French onion soup mix that we buy at the bulk store, it is nice as soup but it is great as a seasoning, so two tablespoons of that made their way into the bowl.
A quick dash to one of our gardens, (we made box gardens here and there) to nab some fresh spinach. We chopped it up and tossed it in, keeping some leaves as a garnish too.
The burgers were formed and into the pan, then slowly cooked, the buns toasted in another pan to crisp them up a bit. Then on the bottom buns we put chunks of brie, placed them back in the pan and let the brie melt a bit.
When the burgers were almost cooked, more brie was placed on top and a lid on the pan so it would drizzle over the burger.
Mushrooms and onions were sauteed. They went on the brie to melt their way in.
The fries were ready, the gravy cooked, brie was chopped and sprinkled generously over the fries and gravy, it quickly melted under the broiler.
Chives from the garden that were chopped were sprinkled on top.
We were drooling a bit by then.
Moments after it hit the table, we were moaning. This was a definitely a do over
