It is not ‘your own’ leave it be

You can change your mind, sometimes that is a good thing to do. An example is when you have an idea to make a song “your own”. Then it is a good idea to change your mind. Unless you are thief and are stealing the song? Then it is yours? I am confused. How  can you take someone else’s song and make it your own with out being a thief? When we used to watch Idol, the judges would often say.. make the song your own.  Then when they did, the judges would say you butchered that song, why do you think you are better than the original artist? What gave you the right to butcher their song? The judges were confusing and often made little sense, so we stopped watching idol.

You can change a light bulb. An idea is often associated with light bulbs, like one getting bright as you have a good idea, when it glows dim does this mean it is a bad idea? You know, like making a song your own? Then it is good to change the light bulb, if it is dim like your idea.

You can change a diaper, you know, for when it really smells bad. It should be changed then. Nelly funlesstado, (yes I changed your name, I made it my own, see how it works?) Your rendition of O Canada was horrific, it was terrible, it was insulting it was dull it was bad it was CRAP. It was annoying, it annoyed me. You must think you are very special?

Some things, just can not be made “your own”.  A national Anthem is a song of pride, it is a song that lives in peoples hearts. It makes some smile, it makes some sad, it makes hearts fill with pride.

YOU CAN NOT CHANGE IT

YOU CAN NOT MAKE IT YOUR OWN

Please never sing our song again, please never sing again. Practice instead, “May I take your order?”

Perhaps you can make that your own.

did I mention that I was annoyed?

Breakfast of Champions

It is coooold out. Yesterday was our coldest day.. for that date.. in 20 years.

Yay we won… eeeeps.

So we stayed in. We may shop later today, but it is cold out. Still.

So we had breakfast.

What?

It was yummy.

We set it on fire too. There were cheers. It is nice to have a cozy fire when it is cold out…

A rhyme a rhyme my gold for a rhyme

Anniversaries they come and go,
it is a yearly thing, you know.
Unless you like them each week,
it could be that which you seek?

Once a year is good for me,
I am not too greedy you see.
An anniversary can be so nice it is sought,
or one you would rather have, not.

Not all of them are great,
some you could just hate.
We try not to pay homage to those,
maybe, instead, just write some prose?

A tribute to someone that has passed,
Or something in our memory, which is cast.
We should just try to forget these,
and focus on the ones that do us please.

We can dwell in our past if we desire,
those thorns can form such a brier.
Entangle us in its tangled grip.
deeper in we can slip.

The future is ahead.
look to it instead.
To my blog happy anniversary,
aren’t you glad this rhyme, wasn’t nursery?

Is it today or yesterday?

WordPress sent me a note last night, quite late too I may add.

It is my Anniversary!

Wooot

Four years ago I started my blog, in those days I posted much more often, once or twice a day it seems instead of the once or twice a month I seem to have gravitated to recently.

But it has been four years.

Now you can all send anniversary gifts to me, I like gold best. What?

Look I am back

Have you noticed Oprah W has a new commercial out?

One for weight watchers?

It is good timing on her part, many make that New Years resolution to lose weight. When they see Oprah, someone that promotes respectability, pushing a program at weight watchers, they really listen. She sways a lot of opinion. They believe what she tells them.

She has a fireside chat type commercial airing now, without the fire. One where she is just talking to you. This is not an accidental format for the commercial. It lends a lot more sway power to it, you want to join her, she is very convincing.

What seems to have slipped through the cracks here though. Is she is a stock holder in weight watchers.

oops. she didn’t mention this in her commercial. She is not hiding the fact, she was on Ellen talking about how she bought ten percent of the company for forty million dollars. How she made forty five million dollars the next day (I think) as the stock sort of doubled.

But in her commercial, where implied honesty is beaming through, this somewhat important detail is omitted. It is not, hey I liked the product so much I bought the company…

But the honest fireside chat format would be destroyed if she had said, hey I own this company you should try it out. She could have made that work though. It is too bad she didn’t try.

Negative points for you Oprah.

oh this isn’t a rant, I am just ticked that she did this lol.

If I was ranting I would be talking about the greedy oil companies that are buying crude oil for $29 dollars a barrel and the prices at the pumps are the same as when it was $100 dollars a barrel. OOPS… more greed is showing. Now that ticks me off a lot.

That would be a rant.

Update to yesterdays zucchini dilemma…

I googled to see if there was another way to cook zucchini that we have not tried.  I stumbled across a video where the person posting the recipe said… “I have more zucchini than I know what to do with, So much that I fed it to the cows.”(we don’t have cows, so that is not an option for us…. just saying) When I found this recipe I loved it, sorry cows all the zucchini is mine now.”

Ok, so not having cows I still wanted to try this recipe, but I always change recipes so I will tell you what I did.

September has arrived, though it doesn’t feel like it as we are in another heat wave. If the humidity wasn’t so high I would go yeehaa, but alas, it is like a jungle outside. I am hoping for our long weekend, which shows clear skies in the forecast…00 0000and warm temps…. thermometer,  that the humidity will be lower.

Our gardens did well for the most part this summer, we planted a huge variety of tomato plants, that yielded lots and lots of different tomatoes from tiny red ones to pear shaped yellow tiny ones yellowPearTomato to larger pineapple tomatoes that were yummy. The plants are still filled with tomatoes that are ripe and ripening, so I will go yeeehaaa now. I think I like the yellow tomatoes best, we have four different kinds of them. They are lower acid and sweeter.

Oh Oh Oh, look at this, isn’t it wonderful?

Are you serious?

As I went for a jog last night, I noticed where they have removed a set of train tracks, to make room for a walking trail. This will be nice, I guess the tracks are trainless now… a sign of progress? As our nation stops manufacturing? Global economy, is it a good thing?

From the Globe & Mail:

“The average Canadian family now spends more money on taxes than on food, clothing and shelter, according to a report by the Fraser Institute.

“With growth in the total tax bill outpacing the cost of basic necessities, taxes now eat up more family income, so families have less money available to spend, save or pay down household debt,” said Charles Lammam, director of fiscal studies at the Fraser Institute, in a statement.

The report from the Vancouver-based think tank found that last year, the average Canadian family spent 42.1 per cent of its income on taxes and 36.6 per cent on basic necessities. The average family in that year made $79,010 and paid $33,272 in total taxes while spending just $28,887 on food, clothing and shelter combined.

The institute tracks the numbers through its Canadian Consumer Tax Index, which tracks the total tax bill of the average Canadian family from 1961 to 2014. Taxes tracked include income, payroll, sales, property, health, fuel and alcohol.

Since 1961, the average Canadian family’s total tax bill increased by 1,886 per cent, outpacing increases in food, clothing and shelter, according to the index.”
